OUR WHY

Mission

Our mission is simple, raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl poisoning in an effort to, simply put, save lives.

Vision

The pain of losing a loved one is unbearable, let alone to this silent killer.

The 500days.org vision evolved

when we lost our sweet girl

Aimee Leigh

to a tragic fentanyl poisoning on

November 10,2022.

Aimee was the most selfless, caring,

beautiful soul with an unforgettable laugh, a love of all things travel, and an ability to see the good in every human being she encountered. Losing her has truly

devastated our family.

To endure a loss this profound, it must

be met with a cause just as significant.

We join this fight so that maybe, another family does not have to experience this heartbreak and grave injustice.

After all, if we don't talk about it, who will?

FACTS...

Let’s talk

FROM THE UNITED STATES DRUG ENFORCEMENT AGENCY

In calendar year 2023, DEA seized more than 77 million fentanyl pills and nearly 12,000 pounds of fentanyl powder nationwide. This is the most fentanyl seized by DEA in a single year. It amounts to more than 386 million deadly doses of fentanyl—enough to kill every single American in the United States.

IF WE DON'T TALK ABOUT IT, WHO WILL??

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is approximately 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times more potent than morphine. It is inexpensive, widely available, highly addictive, and comes in a variety of colors, shapes and forms – including powder and pills.  Drug traffickers are increasingly mixing fentanyl with other illicit drugs to drive addiction and create repeat business. Many victims of fentanyl poisoning were unaware they ingested fentanyl.

According to CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics there were an estimated 107,543 drug overdose deaths in the United States during 2023 with 70 percent of those deaths involving synthetic opioids like fentanyl. Only two milligrams -- the equivalent of a couple of grains of salt or sand -- of fentanyl is considered a potentially lethal dose.

Fentanyl is the LEADING KILLER of Americans ages 18-45 with children under 14 years of age dying faster than any other age group. READ THAT AGAIN.
